Calciomercato (via Football-Italia) report that Torreira wants to leave Arsenal for Serie A this summer. His agent is offering him out to AC Milan and Napoli, with the 24-year-old ‘increasingly frustrated with Arsenal’.

Torreira’s representatives are now reportedly proposing a summer transfer. Corriere dello Sport claimed earlier this week that Milan are already interested, keeping in regular contact with Torreira’s camp after their failed move last summer.

According to that report, Torreira would cost around €40m. However, as we pointed out at the time, Arsenal are already facing a bit of a shortage in midfield.

Dani Ceballos is likely to return to Real Madrid, and Mohamed Elneny’s will probably leave again. That basically leaves Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka to play at the base of midfield. Unless you count Joe Willock or Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

There’s no way Arsenal can go into the new season with just two serious options for two positions. Either they sell Torreira and buy multiple midfielders, or they keep him around and probably still have to buy at least one.

I’m afraid it doesn’t really matter much what Torreira wants right now. He has a contract for a few more years and Arsenal currently need him.
