The Atletico Madrid move to sign Alexandre Lacazette is progressing fairly well, according to reports in France, with Arsenal looking for a replacement.

Last month, Soccer Link reported that Atletico Madrid were keen to sign Alexandre Lacazette this summer. They claimed Atletico sporting director Andrea Berta already spoke with the player personally, and Lacazette was ‘confident’ of a summer transfer.

Now, Soccer Link write that the transfer is ‘progressing fairly well’. They say Arsenal are looking for a replacement, naming Philippe Coutinho as an option. Although, they do add that Coutinho’s agent is focusing more on a move to Chelsea.

Obviously, Coutinho isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Lacazette. He’s not going to play as a centre-forward for Arsenal anyway.

The idea is likely that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would move centrally and Coutinho would take the left, as he has often this season.

At the moment, there still aren’t many other reliable outlets reporting a Lacazette move to Atletico. Either Soccer Link know something the rest don’t, or this is still just a rumour. It certainly doesn’t seem likely much progress will happen right now.
