Following reports of Arsenal interest in Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca, Kike Marin spoke out to deny the rumours on social media.

Marin writes on Twitter that Arsenal aren’t interested in signing Roca this summer. He claims the midfielder’s agent offered him to Arsenal, but the answer was no. The Spanish journalist goes on to add that it’s a huge stretch to suggest Arsenal were negotiating.

Spanish outlet Sport were reporting that Arsenal and Espanyol were ready to start negotiating at the end of the current coronavirus crisis. They claimed the Gunners had already submitted an offer, with the player likely to move on.

From the sounds of things, this was just an attempt to generate interest in Roca. With Espanyol bottom of the table, it’s no real surprise he might want to move on. There’s a strong possibility the season will end here, and the potential for relegation as a result.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder made it up to 33 appearances for the season before the league lockdown.
