Louise Quinn’s agent has caused something of a stir with a tweet that seems to hint that the Irish defender could leave the club today which would surely mean another coming in.

Today is transfer deadline day in the women’s game and Arsenal are not expected to let any players leave given how short their current squad is.

As Rich Laverty tweeted to remind people today was deadline day, Quinn’s agent replied with a mysterious message:

Their tweet before that was a RT of this:

Sisu Sports Management represent Quinn. In fact, she seems to be one of their biggest clients as she features heavily on their website. The agency, of course, has many players, so none of this would have meant anything without that hashtag at the end -#cantseecantbe.

It probably still means nothing. But let’s take a look anyway.

Quinn has played just 754 minutes for Arsenal this season (and only 175 in the league) in what has been a quite rapid fall from grace. She ended last season with the fifth highest gametime in the squad (1,543 minutes in the league alone) but this season has been fourth-choice in the rotation system.

However, injuries have recently opened the door for her and she started against Chelsea at the weekend and played the full 90 against Brighton in the match before that.

Speaking after Arsenal won the title back in May, Quinn reflected on the sudden, positive change in her career that saw her enjoy a standout, championship winning season after being left without a club in 2017 when Notts County folded.

“God yeah, it is literally almost two years to the day,” Quinn told the Irish Times. “What a turnaround. It’s hard to describe at the moment, the ups and downs of it all, there were some tough times in there, but Sunday made every step of it worthwhile.

While some expect her to leave in the summer due to her rapid fall down the pecking order at the club, it is possible she could well be on the move today – providing Arsenal have found a replacement.

To let her leave without one would be massive gamble, one completely not worth taking.

After the defeat to Chelsea, we were already discussing Arsenal’s need to bring in two defenders.

Letting others leave without replacements simply cannot be an option.

Arsenal are also expected to announce the signing of Australian forward, Caitlin Foord, who has already said goodbye to her teammates.

Why they haven’t announced her yet, however, is a mystery…
