Arsenal are reportedly set to hold talks with Wolves’s boss, Nuno Espirito Santo, next week as they look to whittle their short-list down to to just three candidates.

That is, of course, as long as Wolves give them permission to speak with their head coach.

As well as Wolves are doing under Santo, it must be highlighted that he is a Jorge Mendes client and, as such, you would be advised to read this about it all.

As for Arsenal, they apparently want to speak to a lengthy list of candidates before whittling it down to three.

Names mentioned so far include Mikel Arteta, Patrick Vieira, Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto Martinez. Marcelino, another Mendes client, is also said to be in the mix and even reportedly flew into London this week for talks.

In the meantime, Freddie is having to make do with the resources he has at the club, not yet allowed to appoint his own coaches, which surely makes the hard job even harder.

“That’s up to the club,” Ljungberg said. “The club have said I have to wait until they make a decision, so yeah, I can’t do anything at the moment [about adding coaches].

“I have Per, but at the same time he is academy manager. He is helping me with the coaching.

“The club has said when they make a decision then that’s it or I’m obviously leaving or maybe then we can do something with the staff. But it’s up to the club.”

Wolves, who sit two points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League table, play Tottenham on Sunday at 2pm, just before Arsenal welcome Manchester City to the Emirates.
