Lifelong Leeds fan and former centre forward for the club, Noel Whelan, was really excited to see Eddie Nketiah play (and score) for the club during the week declaring ‘The hype is real!’

Nketiah was handed his first Leeds start against Salford City and took just 42 minutes to open his account.

Many Leeds’ fans have called for him to be handed a league start this weekend but Leeds manager, Marcelo Bielsa has said he will be sticking with the same starting XI as last weekend. That means no Eddie.

“I’m really excited, I thought his performance was absolutely brilliant,” Whelan told Football Insider about Eddie’s midweek appearance.

“I was really excited about watching him and seeing what all the hype was about, I tell you what, the hype is real. He’s a very, very good football player and he will get a let of goals just because of his movement and intelligence.

“He’s lively, for a young man he’s got a very mature way of playing. He knows when to release the ball and then he’ll move away. He’s got pace, he’s got brains but his movement inside that box, wow. I was loving him from the first whistle.”

In other loan news, Daniel Ballard has reportedly returned to Arsenal with what we’re told is a serious knee injury, although there has been no official confirmation on that while William Saliba had to undergo surgery for his groin problem.
