David Ornstein has provided updates on Arsenal’s pursuit of Kieran Tierney, William Saliba and Wilfried Zaha, as the summer transfer circus really gets going.

After growing rumours surrounding Kieran Tierney and William Saliba, the BBC’s David Ornstein has confirmed the Gunners remain in talks over both.

On Tierney, Ornstein had already confirmed that Arsenal had their opening bid of £15m knocked back. The suggestion from elsewhere is they’re planning to up it and hope for an agreement at around £18-20m.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also reportedly bid £25m plus £5m add-ons for Saliba, though St. Etienne want the centre-back to remain with them on loan for another season. At this stage, all Ornstein has said on the matter is that talks are ongoing.

As for Wilfried Zaha, Ornstein has a more substantial update. Arsenal were reportedly optimistic of bringing the winger in this summer if they’d qualified for the Champions League, and the player himself is keen to join them.

However, Arsenal failing to win the Europa League final, Palace’s £80m valuation of the player and the fact they’re already bringing in £50m for Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United all add up to the deal being pretty unlikely.

It seems it could still be done if the Gunners raise “substantial funds through player sales” this summer, but that would likely mean having to sell on the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Lucas Torreira.

Even if the attack would probably be more balanced with one striker and a couple of strong wingers, it seems improbable that Arsenal will take the risk on that option. Either way, at least the club appear to be working on some deals now, so that’s a start.
