Arsenal are expected to hold talks with St Etienne today (Tuesday) over the transfer of 18-year-old defender William Saliba.

Around a week ago, it was reported that Arsenal had found an agreement with William Saliba. According to that report, Arsenal agreed a provisional five-year deal with the 18-year-old central defender. They now have to find an agreement with St. Etienne who want around €30m for the player who recently signed a new deal tying him down until 2023.

That’s what they’re hoping to do today.

Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the player and are still said to be in ‘active discussions’ with the player’s people and believe that they, too, can agree personal terms with the teenager.

Of course, they can also offer Champions League football and more money to his club so a transfer that was already tricky for Arsenal because of their restricted budget this summer becomes even more so for as long as Spurs are involved.
