Arsenal reportedly held a meeting with Laurent Koscielny’s agents to discuss the player’s future amid reports they could offer him a contract extension.

GFFN report that the club met with his agents on Monday with the player subject to multiple offers from France and Italy.

Laurent Koscielny looked like he was on his way from Arsenal after nine years in London. He has been linked with a number of clubs while L’Equipe (via GFFN) reported that the 33-year-old has been approached by Lyon.

Arsenal, in need of cash, however, are not prepared to let their captain go for nothing – nor should they when he has a year remaining on his contract – and ‘may even offer him a contract extension.’

The extension would most likely be to ensure they don’t lose him for nothing next season and much will depend on Arsenal’s ability to be creative in the market this summer.

Arsenal desperately need defenders but they don’t have any money so a decision might be taken to keep Kos at the club as a back-up should they be unable to replace him adequately.

Of course, this is all speculation and, with neither side saying anything, we will just have to wait to see what they do.
