Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech would quite fancy a move to Arsenal according to a Dutch journalist.

Speaking in May, Ajax sporting director and former Gunner Marc Overmars said Hakim Ziyech will leave the club when a top side comes in for him, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool reportedly interested.

Now, the player would seemingly like to move to Arsenal.

Ziyech drew plenty of attention in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-final, as well as their domestic double in the Netherlands. In all competitions, the winger scored 21 goals and assisted 20, as well as winning a few penalties. That drew the interest of the three mentioned PL clubs as well as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Marc Overmars admits that Ajax have accepted they’re going to lose their star man, and they’re just waiting for the right team to come in for him now.

“He leaves when a top club comes,” Overmars said. “He is in focus because of his achievements in the Champions League. Many big clubs are buzzing around him. We promised Hakim [that we would] agree to a good transfer.”

Bayern have reportedly already made contact with Ziyech’s representatives, and Ajax are resigned to losing the player for his £25m release clause, according to the Mirror. There has been some debate over whether this clause really exists, but if it does then that might allow Arsenal a way into the race.

Everyone knows the Gunners have a limited transfer budget this summer, but if the clause is genuine then the 26-year-old would be worth the investment..
