FC Barcelona are willing to sell reported Arsenal target Samuel Umtiti for €40m, according to claims in the Spanish media.

Spanish outlet Marca (via Sport Witness) report that Barcelona would let the centre-back go for an offer of ‘around €40m’, though they do add a couple of details that make a transfer less likely.

Firstly, Umtiti doesn’t want to leave, despite all the rumours suggesting he’s on the way out. Secondly, he’s struggling with persistent knee injuries, which will make any club hesitant to splash out on him.

Arsenal have been linked with Umtiti for a couple of months, though David Ornstein admitted on BBC Radio 5 Live recently that he has no idea how reliable those links are.

“No idea,” Ornstein said. “There is a Barcelona link there with Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi, and Umtiti is seen to be surplus to requirements at Barcelona, but I don’t know.”

The BBC journalist did confirm that centre-back was one of the club’s two priorities in the transfer market, along with a box-to-box midfielder, so it’s very possible they’d consider Umtiti as one of their targets. We’ll have to wait and see.
