Former Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale has admitted he was a fan of Arsenal, Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp growing up, despite going on to play for Spurs.

Bale was appearing on BT Sport’s show ‘What I Wore’ when he made the revelation, admitting that he used to watch the Gunners a lot when he was younger.

“I used to watch Arsenal a lot and I really enjoyed watching people like (Thierry) Henry,” Bale said. “I used to like watching Dennis Bergkamp as well. They had a great team – Tottenham fans won’t be happy that I am holding this!”

Bale went on to play for Southampton, living as Theo Walcott’s roommate for a while, before both of them made the move to North London. Bale joined Spurs, Walcott joined Arsenal and the rest is history.

This isn’t the first time Bale has admitted to being a fan of the Gunners. He spoke about it back in 2015, saying he ‘used to like Arsenal a lot’. The Welshman is obviously also close with Aaron Ramsey through the national team, publicly wishing him and Walcott well for Arsenal’s FA Cup final in 2015.

To sum up, two of Tottenham’s best players in the last couple of decades, Harry Kane and Gareth Bale, both supported Arsenal as children. It’d be a bit sad if it wasn’t so funny.
