Arsenal’s 16-year-old summer signing Sam Greenwood scored yet again on international duty on Thursday, as he continues his impressive season so far.

Facing Ireland for the England u17s, Greenwood scored in his country’s 3-1 win. He wasn’t the only Arsenal player involved in the game, with Yunus Musah and Miguel Azeez also taking part. Azeez provided an assist for one of the goals.

Since his promotion to the u17 England side in September, Greenwood has scored five goals in six games, netting against Norway, Belgium, USA, Brazil and now Ireland.

The young Englishman is also on fire for the Arsenal u18s, scoring four goals in his last five starts for the team, and adding an assist against a very strong Chelsea side in September.

The former Sunderland youngster certainly seems to be on the right track to progress through the Arsenal academy at the moment, though he has a lot of competition up front.

Eddie Nketiah is obviously the star striker in the youth teams, but there’s also Tyreece John-Jules, who scored against Forest Green Rovers this week, and Folarin Balogun, who has a ridiculous eight goals in six games for the u18s. All of them are older than Greenwood though, so he has time on his side. Let’s hope he makes the most of it.
