David Ospina is earning a lot of praise from the local media in Italy, after making a positive start to life with Napoli.

Italian outlet Gazzetta have been singing Ospina’s praises in the last few days. They write that Ospina probably thought he was resigning himself to being Napoli’s third-choice goalkeeper when he first completed his loan transfer. Now, they say the shirt is becoming a ‘second skin’ for him.

Gazzetta call Ospina a ‘very modern goalkeeper’ who knows how to read opponents and knows how and when to come out of his area. They highlight the match against Liverpool as a good example of these traits. The publication also adds that Ospina has a good ability to re-launch the action ‘Reina-style’.

It’s not all good news, and Gazzetta point out that the goalkeeper is still conceding too many goals, despite his good performances. However, for the most part, the media seem to be suggesting that Ospina is having a good season so far. It’s no surprise that Napoli are therefore reportedly keen to activate their option-to-buy.

Arsenal’s loanees have had pretty contrasting fortunes so far, with some performing impressively and others hardly even making it onto the pitch.
