Arsene Wenger is top of Fenerbahce’s list of four managers to potentially replace Phillip Cocu at the club.

Turkish outlet Milliyet report that Fenerbahce bosses held a meeting this week to discuss their managerial situation. Cocu is reportedly performing ‘far below expectations’ at the club, as they sit 14th in the table in Turkey. As a result, they’re looking at options to replace him. Wenger is on the four-man list.

According to the claims, Fenerbahce actually approached Wenger at the beginning of the season. However, at the time the 68-year-old rejected the offer, as he wanted some time to rest. Now the Super Lig club are hoping they can convince him on the second attempt.

If Wenger did take the job, Fenerbahce are taking part in this year’s Europa League, so he could end up facing Arsenal. They’d have to turn their fortunes around in the group stages though, after losing their first game 4-1.

It’d be great to see the former boss back in management again either way. We’ll see if the job is of any interest to him, or if he’d prefer to keep enjoying his well-earned rest.
