Matt Macey made an impressive double save in Plymouth’s 4-1 victory over Scunthorpe United at the weekend, as the side begin to turn their fortunes around with him in goal.

Plymouth got off to a pretty terrible start to the season, failing to even win a league game until their 12th of the campaign. Since then, they’ve improved though, winning three of their last five.

The most recent victory over Scunthorpe could’ve ended differently if it weren’t for an eye-catching double save from 24-year-old Arsenal loanee Macey. He could only parry the first shot, but he got down very quickly to palm the rebound away:

The more eagle-eyed among you might have also noticed former Gunner Tafari Moore in the clip (number 22). The right-back also joined Plymouth from Arsenal over the summer, in his case on a permanent deal.

Moore and Macey still have a lot of work to do this season, with Plymouth sitting 22nd of 24 in League One. However, they’re only one point off escaping the relegation zone now, which is better than being rooted to the bottom of the table as they’ve spent the majority of the season so far. Good luck to them both!
