Spirits are certainly high around the Arsenal team camp at the moment, but fans spotted that fourth official Mike Dean didn’t exactly share in their joy during the 5-1 win at the weekend.

Arsenal’s victory over Fulham on Sunday was their biggest competitive win of the Unai Emery era so far. Alexandre Lacazette grabbed the first two goals before Aaron Ramsey made an immediate impact from the bench with a third, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rounded out the scoring with a brace of his own.

After the game, Aubameyang posted a picture on Twitter showing the delight of the two strikers, along with a caption emphasising their “team spirit”. However, fans quickly spotted Mike Dean in the background looking less than pleased.

Every Arsenal fan should know the history of Arsenal and Mike Dean by now. The Gunners only win 43% of their matches under the referee, well below the average win rate under Arsene Wenger, or Unai Emery so far. He’s also given seven penalties against the team, as opposed to three for them.

Last month, he refereed Arsenal’s clash with Brentford, and once again he made the headlines by refusing to give Alex Iwobi a penalty.

Hopefully, Dean will have many more Arsenal goals to helplessly observe from the sidelines this season.
