Fenerbahce President Ali Koc admits the club would love to have Arsene Wenger in charge of their team, but they can’t match the offers the Frenchman has already received.

Speaking to the Turkish media, Koc discussed the rumours surrounding the manager position at Fenerbahce at the moment. The club sit 15th in the 18-team Super Lig, already 10 points off Galatasaray at the top of the table after just eight games.

As a result, Phillip Cocu and Damien Comolli have seen their jobs at the club come under threat. However, Kos insists it’s too early for a change and admitted that as desirable as it would be to have Wenger in charge, it’s unlikely to happen.

“Who doesn’t want Arsene?” he asked. “But we aren’t in a position to meet the prestigious offers that he already turned down from elsewhere.”

If nothing else, this confirms the media speculation that Wenger really has been receiving offers from some of the top clubs around. Clearly, it’s the 68-year-old’s personal choice not to take one of the available positions, as he continues to bide his time and consider his options.

It seems Arsenal won’t be facing up against Wenger in the Fenerbahce dugout anytime soon though. That was a real possibility, since the club are in the Europa League this season, and currently sit second in their group. Assuming the Gunners can qualify for the knockout stages in the top spot, the two teams could well be matched up together.
