Krystian Bielik has made his return to the Charlton squad after injury, sitting on the bench during their match against Coventry City on Saturday.

In what is becoming an unfortunately common occurrence for the centre-back turned defensive midfielder, Bielik started the season well, really started to make an impression, then picked up an injury.

In this particular case, Bielik had just scored a late winner against Southend United when he suffered a calf injury in training. That left him on the sidelines for a month, but he returned to the Charlton squad this weekend.

The Polish u21 international didn’t manage to get off the bench, but it’s always best to take things step-by-step after multiple injury problems. Without him in the team, Charlton lost 2-1, making it three games without a win.

Nonetheless, the Addicks are still just three points off the play-off spots. Hopefully, Bielik’s return to the starting XI can give them a push up the table.

If Bielik can come back with a strong season under his belt, it would definitely help his parent club out. Assuming the Polish u21 international stays in the defensive midfield position, Arsenal could lock down that spot for the summer and focus on other areas of the pitch.

It’s just about proving he can stay fit for the rest of the campaign now.
