Takuma Asano only lasted 13 minutes of Hannover’s win over former club Stuttgart on Saturday, after picking up an injury early on in the match.

Asano spent two years on loan with Stuttgart, but this year he decided to join fellow Bundesliga club Hannover 96. As a result, he had to face his former side this weekend. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well for him.

Just 13 minutes into the match, Asano came off after grabbing at his left thigh. SportBuzzer report he’s picked up a possible strain or problems with the adductors. The Hannover coach had to comfort the Japanese international as he left the field.

It’s poor timing with the international break coming up. Asano’s ability to get a work permit to play in England is based on his participation in international matches, so missing out is only going to hurt his chances.

The only consolation is that Hannover went on to win the match 3-1 without him, finally lifting themselves off the bottom of the table. They’re now one point away from escaping the relegation zone.

Hopefully, tests reveal that the injury isn’t serious and Asano can return to the action as soon as possible.
