Arsenal are planning to expand Sporting Lisbon’s allocation at the Emirates Stadium when the Portuguese side visit in November.

Certain Arsenal supporters with season tickets near the usual away end have received emails to let them know they’ll have to be moved for the game, confirming that Sporting will receive an increased number of tickets.

It’s not exactly a surprise, considering home tickets for the match still haven’t sold out. They’re currently on sale to Silver, Red, Purple, Cannon and Junior Gunner members.

Clearly, Arsenal are looking to avoid a repeat of the situation last year in their Europa League clash with FC Köln. Increased demand from away supporters combined with a small allocation and little interest from Arsenal fans meant the home end was full of away fans, which was a security concern if nothing else.

Increasing Sporting’s allocation goes some way to helping to avoid the same issue. Arsenal also won’t sell tickets to any members who joined after the end of August, to avoid Portuguese supporters signing up for memberships and buying home tickets.

Hopefully, the remainder of the home tickets sell out to Arsenal fans, because it should be a good game.
