Arsenal are on a long streak of Premier League wins against teams outside the ‘big six’ at the Emirates Stadium, and it might surprise you to learn just how long it’s been since they dropped points.

Over the weekend, Arsenal won 2-0 against Everton at home, which meant they’ve now won 21 league matches in a row against non-big six teams at home. That run extends all the way back to January 2017, two seasons ago, when the Gunners lost to Watford.

Since then, Arsenal have picked up the three points on every single occasion. The only time they’ve ever dropped league points at home has been against those other big six teams.

That’s a great basis for a good season, if Unai Emery can just get it together away from home as well. Arsenal’s problem last season was they won just four of their 14 away games against non-big six teams in the league. This season they’ve won both of their first two.

The other thing Emery has to sort is the matches against the big six, of course. His side didn’t manage to pick up any points against Manchester City and Chelsea, and they can’t go the whole season losing to every big club.

However, continuing to dominate every smaller side should go some way towards mitigating the problems caused when they do drop points in the big games. Let’s hope the team can keep the run going.
