Liverpool are planning to move for Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window, after seeing a bid knocked back in the summer, according to reports.

The Mirror write that Jurgen Klopp tried to bring the Welshman to Anfield in the summer window. At the time, Arsenal knocked the interest back, but since then Ramsey’s contract talks have taken a turn for the worse.

Now it looks like there’s almost no chance of the midfielder signing a new deal. With his current contract expiring in 2019, he can leave for free next summer, or sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club in January. Arsenal would reportedly prefer to sell him for a fee.

According to the report, Liverpool will lead the chase for the signing, as Klopp prepares to return in the winter window. However, there are other options, such as Juventus and AC Milan. Ramsey would apparently prefer to join Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on Merseyside.

It would be a sour end to what should be a fondly-remembered decade with the Gunners. A couple of cup final winners and over 50 goals from midfield should be the focus of our Ramsey recollections, but you can guarantee they won’t be if he pushes to move to a direct Premier League rival. It’s up to him and the Arsenal board now.
