Arsenal received a number of injury boosts over the international break, the biggest of which were the updates on Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The club released a player-by-player injury status update on their website on Thursday. On Kolasinac, they confirmed that his recovery is progressing better than expected, and he should now be in full training by early October, as opposed to later in the month as previously thought.

Maitland-Niles is in a similar situation, as the medical team initially pencilled him in for a return to training in November, but now he’ll be back in full training by early October as well.

Meanwhile, Alex Iwobi has recovered from illness to rejoin the squad ahead of the match against Newcastle United this weekend.

Even Laurent Koscielny seems to have been given a minor boost, as he’s now down to return to “full training” in November, rather than just “training” as previously detailed. Unfortunately Carl Jenkinson still seems to be in the same situation as before, returning to training in October/November.

Overall it’s good news though. Arsenal could do with having Koscielny back, given the lack of experienced centre-back options in the squad right now. The same goes at left-back, where Nacho Monreal is pretty much the only option. Having Kolasinac and Maitland-Niles back would certainly help with that.

Let’s hope all their recoveries stay on track.
