Arsenal are expecting to welcome Ainsley Maitland-Niles back from injury sooner than anticipated while Sead Kolasinac and Carl Jenkinson are back in training.

Maitland-Niles suffered a small fracture to his left fibula and the latest update on Arsenal.com says that he is “progressing well and now expected to return to full training in early October (initially aiming to return to training in November).”

Kolasinac and Jenkinson are back in full training following a left knee injury and right ankle sprain respectively. Both Henrikh Mkhitaryan (right ankle) and Sokratis (right dead leg) will be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Brentford.

Dinos Mavropanos, who is out with a groin problem, will not be back in training for another four weeks.

Laurent Koscielny is slowly edging towards his own return with November still the target date.

One other thing worth noting is the extra information Arsenal are now providing in terms of injured players. Previously, they would not have been specific about injuries where they could help it. You wouldn’t even have seen an update detailing left or right leg, for instance.

Since Unai Emery’s team moved in there has been a slight lift on that lid, although not much yet.

Still, given how little information Arsenal used to give us and how many players used to disappear for over a year with barely a mention, I’ll take whatever extra the club are willing to share.
