Everton’s manager Marco Silva refused to rule out handing Yerry Mina his debut on Sunday when the Toffees turn up in London to face Arsenal at Ashburton Grove.

Everton have yet to keep a cleansheet this season, much like their opponents, but are also suffering something of an injury crisis at the back ahead of the game which could hand Mina his opening.

Mina arrived on Merseyside from Barcelona for £27.23m during the summer but only started training with his new teammates this week after recovering from a foot injury.

Silva said: “Mina is working with the team for a full week until now. He’s getting better every day and getting fit as well.”

Against West Ham, Everton lined up with a back four consisting of Jonjoe Kenny, Mason Holgate, Kurt Zouma and Lucas Digne. Leighton Baines was their only other fit defender following a stress fracture for Seamus Coleman. Phil Jagielka, along with the Irishman, will not be available against Arsenal but Michael Keane should return.

Between them, Arsenal and Everton have zero cleansheets and have scored/conceded a total of 42 goals so far this season in a combined 11 games. Arsenal have not drawn a match in 21 games and no team has scored more goals against a single team than Arsenal have against Everton since the start of the Premier League.

0-0 draw, anyone?
