Arsenal have announced that they’ve expanded their partnership with video game company KONAMI.

For a second year running, KONAMI and PES will be Arsenal’s official football video game partner. PES 2019 will benefit from 3D scanning of players and the Emirates Stadium, as well as the inclusion of Arsenal legends, to be revealed soon.

The expanded partnership was announced by Vinai Venkatesham, the club’s old Chief Commercial Officer, who is now taking the job of Managing Director after the news of CEO Ivan Gazidis’ departure.

“We are delighted to be expanding our agreement with KONAMI as a global partner of Arsenal and one that captures the essence of our club within PES 2019,” Venkatesham said. “We are excited to be offering our fans the opportunity to experience both the players and Emirates Stadium so accurately within the game while also providing the opportunity to call on some legends in our proud history to bring the game to life.”

PES games obviously have stiff competition in the football video game market, considering the success of the FIFA series. Presumably, that just makes KONAMI all the more keen to continue working with big clubs like Arsenal, which can only be a good thing for the Gunners in negotiations.

We’ll have to wait and see which Arsenal legends are involved in the new game, but it’s likely to include some of those on show at the recent legends match against Real Madrid. KONAMI ran a promotion at the event, so that could give fans a hint. We should know soon enough.
