Arsenal were one of a number of clubs to be honoured for their work by the European Club Association Awards 2018.

Arsenal received their award for the ‘outstanding contribution to the promotion of women’s club football’, an award they will share with Chelsea

About the award, the ECA said on their website, “Arsenal FC and Chelsea FC were both recognised for breaking the record attendance at a women’s club match in Europe at the 2018 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, with 45,423 spectators in attendance. This year, for the first time, the winner of the award was voted upon by the ten members of the ECA Women’s Football Committee Bureau.”

The 21st iteration of the award ceremony took place in Split this week and saw Real Madrid named European Club of the Year 2018, Red Bull Salzburg pick up a gong for Best Sporting Progress, and KAA Gent for Best Community & Social Responsibility Programme.
