Arsenal continued their great start to the season by putting seven past Yeovil on Wednesday night with Vivianne Miedema on the scoresheet again.

Having beaten Lewes 9-0 and Liverpool 5-0 already this season, it is clear that Joe Montemurro has now got the team firing on all cylinders after arriving at the club almost a year ago.

Jordan Nobbs was on the scoresheet twice and the home side were never able to match Arsenal. Nobbs also grabbed three assists.

Arsenal’s five other goals came from Beth Mead (second of the season), Katie McCabe (fourth of the season), Dominique Bloodworth, Kim Little (fifth of the season and she also got two assists) and Vivianne Miedema who is perhaps the hottest forward around at the minute. This was her seventh goal in three games along with five assists. She is a natural.

Kim Little isn’t doing too badly either. Her goal meant she has now scored in her last five games for club and country.

It was Bloodworth’s solo effort that was perhaps the goal of the night, however. Setting off on a mazy run down the left, she beat her marker before cutting inside the find the bottom right corner with her right foot to make it 6-0 to the Arsenal.

Arsenal have now scored 24 goals from four matches this season, conceding just one along the way. In a league where a couple of points can mean the difference between winning the title and not even qualifying for Europe, Arsenal are four points ahead of Chelsea and five ahead of City after just two games. Although Arsenal are level on points with Birmingham at the top of the table, they have a better goal difference of +10.

Arsenal’s next game is a Super League clash with West Ham on Sunday, 23 September. The game will take place at Meadow Park, kicking off at 2pm. The Hammers have one point from only one game in the league so far. That was a 0-0 draw.
