The USA Soccer Federation has called up Forlain Balogun for their u18 team ahead of a tournament in the Czech Republic, ‘leap-frogging’ England and Nigeria who are both interested in the player.

Balogun, who is reportedly seen as ‘Nigeria’s top scholar at the Arsenal Academy’ has already represented England at u17 level when he played for the Young Lions at the 2018 UEFA Under-17 Championships earlier this year.

He played four times for England at that tournament, facing Israel, Switzerland, Norway and the Netherlands.

FIFA still need to approve the move from England to USA for the youngster, however, that is unlikely to be a problem should the player be happy enough with the switch.

Balogun has been with Arsenal since 2011 and is described in his home country as an ‘offensive all-rounder’.

He was the u18s top scorer last season with 13 goals across all competitions, including nine in the u18 Premier League.
