Aaron Ramsey won’t leave Arsenal in the current transfer window, with the club confident of finding an agreement for a new contract, according to reports.

We reported earlier on the rumours that Arsenal and the midfielder are close to agreeing a new deal, although there’s nothing official on that front just yet. More immediately though, it seems there’s no chance of the club letting Ramsey leave this summer.

Football.London claim talks are continuing over an extension, and add the midfielder ‘looks certain’ to still be an Arsenal player when the window closes at 5pm. Sky Sports are claiming something similar, revealing on their deadline day transfer show that as far as Arsenal are concerned, Ramsey is staying put.

There’s no time to replace the Welshman at this stage in the current window, so it makes sense that Arsenal are taking this stance regardless of the outcome of the contract negotiations.

If the 27-year-old does decide to leave in the end, hopefully he tells the club far enough in advance of the January window for Unai Emery’s transfer team to find a replacement.

For now, he can finally fully focus on staying fit and performing well for Arsenal, with the new Premier League season beginning for him on Sunday.
