Sead Kolasinac will undergo a scan within the next 48 hours to determine if there is any ligament damage to his knee.

The 25-year-old was replaced by Ainsley Maitland-Niles after 70 minutes of Arsenal’s game against Chelsea at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin in the club’s penultimate pre-season friendly before the season kicks off.

The delay in waiting for the scan is usually to allow any swelling to subside.

Aaron Ramsey, meanwhile, is believed to only have a small calf problem. Speaking after the match, Unai Emery said, “He has one little muscular pain and we decided not to start him in the match because it’s maybe a big risk for him.

“But I’m waiting for the medical analysis and I don’t think it will be a big problem.”

In his post-match press conference, he added, “We are very happy with the 90 minutes because I think the performance was getting better throughout the match after the first goal.

“But I think it’s also good because in this moment we need to stay together and react to these moments in the game, and then I think we controlled he match with possession, had good positioning on the pitch and created lots of chances which led to the goal.

“For that, I think the performance tonight was good and it will help us in our preparation for the start of the competition. After this, it’s clear that the problems tonight were Aaron Ramsey – but that’s not a big issue – and then Kolasinac because he’s injured his leg. We’re waiting for the medical analysis to find out what this injury is.”

Emery also confirmed that Nacho Monreal will be back in the squad for Saturday’s final pre-season game against Lazio in Stockholm.

Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka will also be available for selection.
