AC Milan’s board of directors are planning to meet today to discuss the appointment of their new CEO, with Ivan Gazidis still strongly in the running and a €4m-a-year offer on the table.

La Gazzetta dello Sport write that the directors are meeting over two key issues: Financial Fair Play and the CEO appointment. Their first choice partnership of Gazidis and Umberto Gandini remains on the table, but the Arsenal CEO is slowing things down, since he hasn’t yet resolved his situation with his current club.

Meanwhile La Repubblica claim Gazidis would earn €4m-a-year (£3.63m) in charge of his new club, if he takes up the offer currently on the table. That would be an increase of over £1m on his current deal with Arsenal.

Milan chairman Paolo Scaroni previously confirmed the club were in talks and making progress with Gazidis and Gandini, and expected a decision ‘in a few weeks’. Two weeks later, it doesn’t seem like they’re any closer to finalising anything, but we’ll have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure either way.

Hopefully that will come soon, but Arsenal do love their drawn out exit sagas, and it appears that’s just as true at board level as it is with the players.
