Rumours of a training ground falling out between Mesut Özil and Unai Emery are untrue, and the Arsenal head coach even tried to sign the playmaker in January, according to reports.

Raphael Honigstein writes for ESPN that sources have informed them that the stories of Özil’s falling out with his head coach have no basis in reality. The truth is he was sent home on the advice of the club doctor, and prescribed antibiotics to help with a case of laryngitis, and attended the West Ham match as a spectator.

Back in January, Emery personally tried to convince the German to leave Arsenal for Paris Saint-Germain, reportedly holding a face-to-face meeting with him. In the end, the move didn’t go through, as Özil decided to renew his contract in North London, but it worked out for Emery anyway as he then joined the club himself.

Hopefully that should put to bed all the nonsense about a potential falling out between the two. They both know the truth of the matter, so it doesn’t really matter how much the media try to make a circus out of nothing.

Anyone who watched the match between Arsenal and West Ham at the weekend should’ve been able to see how much the team need Özil back creating for them again. The weekend’s match against Cardiff City is the perfect opportunity for him to really get his season going.
