Matthew Upson has tipped Arsenal to reclaim their place in the top four this season under Unai Emery.

Arsenal dropped out of the Champions League places in their final two seasons under Wenger but with Emery at the helm, there is a renewed sense of belief amongst the club and supporters that they can reclaim their spot at the European grownups table.

“I think so [they will finish in the top four],” Upson told Sky Sports’ The Debate. “The signings they’ve made have addressed the positions and signings they needed to be better.

“They are signings who will do the basics and do them well.”

This is in stark contrast to every reporter at the Daily Mail. Not one of them gave Arsenal a chance this season beyond Sami Mokbel who thinks we will win the League Cup.

Monday’s Daily Mail had a Premier League prediction special and, like most years, they don’t think Arsenal will do much of anything.

This was a running joke under Wenger.

Every season journalists would claim this was the year Arsenal would be overtaken by Spurs and every year we laughed as they weren’t.

It only took them 20 years to get it right, a worse rate of success than a stopped clock.

So, it’s probably no surprise to anyone that the entire Daily Mail football team has given the Arsenal squad under Emery no chance of cracking the top four.

Only Mokbel thinks Arsenal will achieve anything – a League Cup trophy.

Interestingly, while the journalists were all asked who would win the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, be promoted and relegated, and who would win the Champions League, they never bothered making a Europa League prediction.

You know, that trophy Unai Emery won three times in a row and Arsenal made the semi-final of at their first attempt…
