Jack Wilshere is reportedly close to completing a move to West Ham United, as he closes in on finalising a deal to join the club on a free transfer.

Sky Sports News report that West Ham are close to agreeing a deal with the departing Arsenal midfielder, after holding talks with him earlier this week. Wilshere is currently out of contract after his deal with the Gunners finally came to an end in June.

The Guardian corroborate the reports, adding that Wilshere has already had a medical with his potential new club. They write that it’s expected to be a three-year deal for the 26-year-old with the Hammers.

Meanwhile, beIN SPORTS in Turkey claim that it’s actually only a one-year deal initially, but with an option for an additional two. The additional years would be activated automatically if Wilshere made 40 appearances next season. He’d reportedly earn £90,000-a-week to play at the London Stadium.

The beIN report does throw in a bit of a curve ball, adding that Fenerbahce’s offer is still on the table, with higher financial incentives for the England international. At this stage it seems far more likely he’s staying in the Premier League though.

It will be strange to see Wilshere lining up against Arsenal next season, but hopefully this is a positive new beginning for him and the club.
