Joel Campbell might finally be leaving Arsenal on a permanent deal, rather than another loan, with two clubs reportedly interested in the Costa Rica international.

Football-Espana claim Campbell is unlikely to return to loan club Real Betis this season, after his injury-hit campaign in Spain. Instead, they claim he’s set for a permanent move away from Arsenal, after six loans in the last seven years.

Bola VIP report Lazio and Fenerbahce are both interested in signing Campbell. Italian outlet Tuttosport add that Lazio are the favourites, claiming they’re ‘close’ to a move for the player.

Last season was a bit of a disaster for the 26-year-old forward. He started the campaign with a knee injury, but returned in October to score one, assist another and help set up a third in just 13 minutes on the pitch. After getting everyone excited to see more, he picked up another injury after just 99 more minutes.

After that, he didn’t return until April, and didn’t play more than 10 minutes in a match until the final game of the season. However, he scored in that last outing, and earned a World Cup call up with Costa Rica.

Again, Campbell only played 90 minutes once at the tournament, but assisted one goal and won a penalty for another in that match against Switzerland. Hopefully a new club will take a chance on the forward, and he can play more consistently next year.
