Tottenham Hotspur are moving to sign reported Arsenal target Steven N’Zonzi to replace Mousa Dembele, who is seemingly on the way out this summer.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claim Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring the midfielder to North London. As mentioned, he reportedly wants N’Zonzi to replace Dembele, who already ‘has one foot in Inter’, according to Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo on Monday. Another Spanish outlet, AS, also write that Dembele can leave Spurs this summer.

The reports suggest Dembele is valued at around £26.5m, whilst Steven N’Zonzi has a £35m release clause in his Sevilla contract.

The swap makes sense for Tottenham, given the profiles of the two players. N’Zonzi seemingly wants a move, and they’d only have to invest a few million to make it happen if the Dembele transfer goes through.

Meanwhile, it seems very unlikely Arsenal go for the Sevilla man at this stage. The club already have two midfielders undergoing medicals today (Monday), Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.

Those two join in addition to Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny and Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Not to mention up and coming youth prospects like Joe Willock and Josh Dasilva. Suddenly the club is looking pretty well stocked in the middle.

With any luck, N’Zonzi will bring his trademark disruptive attitude to Tottenham and put in his yearly transfer request next summer.
