Arsenal could be set for a fixture switch up in pre-season, with rumours that Lazio could replace Sevilla as their final pre-season opponents.

Arsenal were set to play Sevilla on 4th August in the Friends Arena in Stockholm. Both clubs had announced the fixture, and Emery had spoken about his excitement to meet up with his old friends at the club, where he previously worked as head coach.

Now, it seems like Lazio might play Arsenal in Sevilla’s place. Chris Wheatley reports that he’s heard rumours the fixture could still be changed:

There’s no reason given for the change, and no obvious explanation for it either. Sevilla do have a big game coming up in early August, as they play FC Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup, but that’s not until the 12th, over a week later.

Perhaps they’re considering moving their August 7th fixture against Inter Milan forward, to give them a bit of a rest that week. We’ll have to wait and see, but as long as Arsenal face a competitive side on the planned date, it shouldn’t be a big problem either way.
