Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi has handed in a formal transfer request to try and force a move to Arsenal, according to reports.

The Daily Mail write that N’Zonzi wants a move to London to reunite with his family and his former boss Unai Emery. He has a £35m release clause, but given the circumstances the Mail believe Sevilla would accept £22m for the midfielder.

It’s no surprise to see the 29-year linked with Arsenal (again) given his history of links to Arsenal, and the arrival of Emery. In fact it was one of the most predictable transfer stories of the summer.

Nonetheless, N’Zonzi has proven his worth since the turn of the year, and made a good case for himself as someone who could add something to the Arsenal team.

Towards the end of 2017, the player fell out with the former Sevilla coach Eduardo Berizzo, and didn’t play for the club for a month as a result.

After Berizzo’s departure, he got back into the team, went on an impressive run, including a top performance against Manchester United in the Champions League, and got a call up from France for the World Cup.

This could be his final chance to get a big move to a top club, and if the transfer request reports are correct, he wants to make that move happen. We’ll see how true it all is in the coming weeks.
