With the new season not too far away, we’ll be keeping our usual eye on how Arsenal’s loan stars are doing with their temporary clubs, and right now Takuma Asano is making a positive start.

Sportbuzzer report that Asano is immediately convincing coaches after his first training sessions with his loan club. He got several rounds of applause for pulling off moves successfully, and manager Andre Breitenreiter insisted that the Arsenal loanee and fellow new arrival Bobby Wood were there because Hannover “are convinced of them”.

Hopefully this means Asano is going to push hard and live up to his promise to go “full throttle to repay the club’s confidence and make the [Hannover] 96 fans happy”.

It’s a third loan in three years for the player, after he spent time with Stuttgart for the last two seasons. His first spell with the German club was encouraging, but the second less so, as he struggled to get into the team.

The 23-year-old made 18 appearances for the first team in 2017/18, the last of which came in December 2017. He scored one goal and provided one assist in total, and only made the squad four times this calendar year.

Dropping down to the Stuttgart second team, he scored once and assisted once in two appearances. It wasn’t enough to get him another first team opportunity though. Fortunately, he still managed to get another chance in the league with Hannover. Hopefully he has a much better campaign this time around.
