Alex Iwobi has agreed a deal to become an ambassador for DStv.

The announcement was made at an autograph signing event that took place at the MultiChoice head office in Lagos on Wednesday, where book-bonus-code.co.uk could be accessed.

The video entertainment company said that Iwobi would be the face of DStv Compact, a ‘value for money package that showcases the best football leagues in the world and general entertainment content at the most affordable price.’

“We are pleased that we are bringing the excitement of the new football season even closer to our customers. Iwobi’s energy and the passion he displays on the pitch is what endears him to fans across the world and as such, makes him a good fit for our brand”, said John Ugbe, Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria.

Iwobi said of the deal, “It’s an honour to be an Ambassador for DStv. Their passion for promoting sports is unrivalled across Africa.”

Iwobi did not enjoy the best summer in Russia, only managing 62 minutes at the tournament despite scoring the goal that sealed their qualification.

Speaking about the tournament to the BBC, the Arsenal youngster said Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr was trying out new things at the tournament. “It’s not just me or my tournament, it’s Nigeria’s tournament.

“The coach didn’t put me in that position because he wanted to try something new, try something else, so I had no problems because at the end of the day it is what the manager decides is what goes.

“We had a lot of hopes and believe that we could do well. We are very proud of ourselves and are going to take the positives of course.

“We are just unfortunate about the last minute goal that came against Argentina led to a defeat that knocked us out of the group. We are taking positives but we are very happy with what we did.

“The squad is young and we picked important lessons that will hopefully help us going forward,” he said.

Iwobi admitted that he ‘didn’t do well’ against at the World Cup but admits being played out of position is a ‘sacrifice’.

The 22-year-old started for his country against Croatia before being benched for the games against Iceland and Argentina.

He played just one minute against each of those two teams and was substituted against Croatia. In total, Iwobi played just 62 minutes in Russia.

”The number ten position is where I have grown up playing. When I play out wide, it is normally to sacrifice to help the team but anywhere I am told to play, I don’t mind,” Iwobi told Kwese Sports Mimi Fawaz before the Super Eagles game against Argentina.

”I didn’t do well against Croatia, it was a hard game for everyone. Iceland, I came on and I did my best but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how I do as long as the team does well.”

In total, Iwobi has seven competitive international caps for his country since his debut in a friendly against DR Congo in October 2015.

Picking up a total of 22 caps, he has played 90 minutes just three times.

Nigeria finished third in Group D, one point behind second-placed Argentina. They won three points thanks to their 2-0 win over Iceland in their second game.
