After a few tough years and more than a decade without a PL title, Arsenal finally decided to let the legendary Arsene Wenger go.

Wenger parted with Arsenal like a true gentleman, and fans didn’t wait for long to see his replacement. Surprisingly, the board chose Unai Emery for the job, citing his vast experience and an impressive CV as the main deciding factors.

Emery may be the perfect man for the job. He was impressive at Sevilla, where he won 3 consecutive Europa League titles, and he won titles with PSG as well, before being cut with a year left on his contract, mostly because of the pressure after the historic and controversial loss to Barcelona in the 16-17 Champions League Round of 16.

Emery is already making his mark at Arsenal, pushing the board to complete deals before the start of the season and pursuing players himself.

The club have done well so far – they’ve signed German goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Greek centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Swiss full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, with a few other players all but confirmed.

With the new additions and the current arsenal at his disposal, Emery will surely make some changes to the line-up and playing style of the Gunners.

Formation 4-2-3-1

Goalkeeper

Petr Cech was horrid last season and Leno is a great replacement. It’s an obvious choice considering Leno’s younger years and his form over the past few seasons as well.

Defence

At the moment, we think that Nacho Monreal will start on the left, with Mustafi and Koscielny in the centre (once the French player returns from injury). With Sokratis Papastathopoulos joining, he’ll slide right into the line-up replacing the French international until then. On the right, Bellerin gets the pip over Lichtsteiner, who could still feature in some games.

Defensive Midfielders

Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey, who Emery considers a valuable part of the squad, will probably start together in the middle. Xhaka will benefit most from this move and the reinforced defence at the back. In this way, the Swiss international should get back to his best and show why he deserves to wear the Arsenal shirt.

We’ll have to see how the potential signing of Lucas Torreira affects the side if the deal goes through.

Attacking Midfielders/Wide-Forwards

This area of the field doesn’t need many changes – the spots are reserved for Mkhitaryan, Özil, and Aubameyang. They will all support a lone strike up front and attack from the sides as well.

Attack

Alexandre Lacazette is the current option in attack if Emery doesn’t sign another striker. The 3 players in behind the Frenchman will feed him chances, which will hopefully result in loads of goals.

Emery’s tactics and plans for Arsenal will surely be a breath of fresh air following Wenger’s outdated approach. Now, Arsenal might not be favourites for next year’s title at bookmakers, but it doesn’t take a guide to understanding betting odds to know that they’re only a prediction, not a fact. Remember 2015 and Leicester City’s odds? Look how that turned out.
