It’s a new era for Arsenal as they look to return to past glory days with new manager Unai Emery.

The former PSG man will bring plenty of his own ideas but as Gareth Southgate proved over the summer, it can also be fruitful to take inspiration from other major players in sport.

And the new gaffer wouldn’t fall short of numbers when it comes to iconic athletes wanting to pass on advice to Arsenal. There are a number of superstars that are self-declared Gooners. We take a look at the four biggest sport stars who Arsenal could take that winning mentality from…

Mo Farah

Perhaps the most famous athlete that supports Arsenal is Mo Farah.

The four-time Olympic Gold Medallist and six-time World Champion is a mad Gooner and has said in the past he’d love to go on to become the club’s fitness coach when his running days are over.

He’s visited the training ground a number of times and after splitting with coach Alberto Salazar and moving back to London, he’s been looking forward to becoming a regular at the Emirates.

Geraint Thomas

Geraint Thomas is one of the most valuable members of Team Sky and has been a world-class domestique for Chris Froome during his Tour de France victories.

Thomas is currently out there again and is in with a shot of taking the Yellow Jersey this summer. You can follow his progress by logging into Tour de France streaming as Thomas and the rest of Team Sky look to secure a sixth title on July 29.

Jimmy Anderson

Despite being a Lancashire lad, England cricket legend has long been an Arsenal fan. Although he’s also claimed to back Burnley, the fast bowler famously had red hair for a long period of time in backing of his team.

He’s been at the top of his game for well over a decade and is the record wicket taker for England in both one day and test cricket.

He’s one of a number of Gunners fans that are England legends of past and present with the likes of Monty Panesar, Mark Ramprakash and Ravi Bopara also fans of the club.

Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua is quite literally the biggest Gunners fan on the planet, and the players who step out onto the Emirates pitch could learn a lot from the Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Joshua regularly sends messages of luck to the Arsenal players, while he even invited his Arsenal hero, Thierry Henry round to his for Christmas dinner.

If Mo Farah wants to be the club’s fitness coach on retirement, we wouldn’t be against AJ coming in to do the strength work too.
