Arsenal have established contact with Hirving Lozano’s representatives over a summer move, according to reports.

The Daily Express initially reported that new head coach Unai Emery was interested in bringing the 22-year-old to Arsenal, in a report which was picked up by a number of overseas publications.

French outlet Maxifoot add that the club have now made contact with Lozano’s representatives, hoping to add him to the squad to compete with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Arsenal aren’t the only club to take notice of Lozano in the last 12 months. After signing for PSV Eindhoven, the Mexico international raced out of the blocks with his new club, scoring 19 goals and providing 11 assists in 34 appearances from the wings.

The youngster got plenty of chances for his national team as a result, and after impressing in friendlies, got the call up to the squad for the World Cup. There he scored one against Germany, and assisted one against South Korea, before his country’s eventual elimination to Brazil.

As a result, reports suggest Lozano would now cost significantly more than the €25m valuation he was given before the tournament. Arsenal also have to compete with reported interest from Barcelona. We’ll see if they’re willing to match their competitors financially.
