Unai Emery has tweeted as Arsenal head off to Singapore for their pre-season games against Atletico Madrid and PSG in the International Champions Cup.

The new boss showed his determination to prepare this Arsenal squad properly ahead of his debut season in the Premier League, as well as his need to connect directly with Arsenal fans, calling for two things on this tour – to get better and to be together.

“Here we come,” he wrote. “7 days to keep on working, to get better, to be together.”

It’s certainly different having Emery in charge for a number of reasons when compared to Arsene Wenger but the weirdest might be his Twitter account.

A few Arsenal fans have expressed concern at him being on the social media platform but I love it. I want to hear directly from the Arsenal manager even though I know it’s unlikely we will hear anything ground-breaking or revelatory from it.

Arsenal jetted off for Singapore on Sunday on a 12-and-a half-hour flight that was delayed just under an hour before it departed London Stansted.

They arrived at 9.32am local time this morning.

Singapore is seven hours ahead of the UK.
