Caglar Soyuncu isn’t expected to make a decision on his next club until the first week of July, but it doesn’t appear he has any plans to stay with SC Freiburg this summer, according to reports in Turkey.

Turkish-Football report that Freiburg are ‘in no hurry’, even though they were supposed to have made a final decision by now. They’re trying to take advantage of the growing interest in the defender, and may force the 22-year-old to wait ‘until the first week of July’ to complete a transfer.

The Turkish outlet add that an exit is still ‘very likely’ though, it’s just about finding an agreement over a transfer fee.

A disappointing revelation in the Turkish-Football report is that the recent Soyuncu quotes about wanting to join Arsenal seem to be false. They write that a source close to the player says he does want a Premier League move, but didn’t mention Arsenal specifically.

It does still appear that the Gunners are in the driving seat at the moment though. Recently Soyuncu’s representative told the media there were ‘concrete talks’ with the club, and that Sven Mislintat is a long term admirer of the player.

The defender made 26 appearances (25 starts) in the Bundesliga this season, despite his age. His impressive domestic form helped him nail down a place in the Turkey national team as well, and he’s started every single one of their games since 5th September 2017.

Now it’s down to Arsenal to get a deal over the line and to make him their next signing.
