Sky Sports Germany reporter Max Bielefeld revealed on Twitter that Arsenal’s rumoured interest in the VfB Stuttgart man is genuine. He wrote that for now the player wants to focus on the French national team, but there’ll be a decision on his future after the World Cup.

Bild corroborate the information, claiming that Arsenal have Pavard on their ‘wish list’. They also report quotes from the player suggesting a move is on the cards this summer.

“I can not promise that [I’ll stay in Stuttgart],” he said. “My agent and I have our ideas.”

We previously reported information from the German media that Pavard ‘wants to sign for Arsenal’, to fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League. Meanwhile, L’Equipe claim Stuttgart want around €50m (£43.7m) for his signature.

It’s all building towards a more concrete move later in the summer. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll have to wait until mid-July for any further developments.

The 22-year-old appeared in every single minute of Stuttgart’s league campaign, helping them to a seventh place finish. The defence only got better as the season went on, with him in it. In fact, they only conceded one goal in his final four games of the campaign, to Bayern Munich.

As a result, fans from all over will watch him play in the World Cup in Russia. Hopefully he doesn’t increase his value too much.
