Morgan Sanson’s agent told the French media that following reports of three London clubs following his client, he can confirm Arsenal and Tottenham are interested, but not Chelsea.

Earlier this week, we covered reports from Arnaud Tulipier, claiming the three London sides were all in for the midfielder. As we pointed out, Tulipier has a good record when it comes to Sanson, so it was a story worth paying attention to.

So it’s proving, as the player’s agent (Michael Manuello) confirmed the rumours in Foot Mercato, but admits Chelsea have moved on at this stage.

“Chelsea will not go any further, they are looking at other things,” Manuello said. “Tottenham are looking at Morgan – very much so. Arsenal are looking at him also, but I don’t know what Unai Emery will want.”

This confirms what we already knew, that Tottenham are leading the race, but Arsenal are still very much involved.

It’s no surprise, as the Gunners need some reinforcements in the middle. Santi Cazorla, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Francis Coquelin have all already left, and Jack Wilshere could be on his way soon as well.

Meanwhile, Sanson had the most impressive season of his young career in 2017/18, at least in front of goal. He scored 12 and assisted three over the course of the campaign, the first time his season goal tally has ever reached double figures.

The midfielder also contributed well defensively, and made a massive 53 appearances over the year. Unfortunately it ended in disappointment, as Marseille lost out to Atletico Madrid in the Europa League final. That means missing out on Champions League football next year, just as it did for Arsenal.

Fortunately, that means the Gunners wouldn’t have to convince the player to give up the Champions League to join them. Still, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can convince him to choose them over Tottenham.
