Daniele Rugani’s agent insists his client is happy with Juventus, but admits he held talks with Arsenal in the past, and a transfer could still happen this summer for the right price.

The media have linked Rugani to Arsenal for a long time, even before he made his first senior appearance for Juventus, back in 2015. When rumours drag on for years like that, it’s hard to know if there’s anything substantial behind them. Now, though, the player’s agent has admitted he really did speak to the Gunners in the past.

We talked a few seasons ago, but at the moment there is no official contact with the Gunners,” Davide Torchia insisted. “He is happy with Juventus, he does not want to leave Turin and he hopes to play with continuity.”

Despite denying official contact with Arsenal, the agent admitted his client could still move on this summer, adding: “In any case, if a large offer arrived, he could be sold.”

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Rugani himself would consider a move to London, and ‘likes Arsenal’. Arsenal similarly hold interest in the defender, as they continue to try to strengthen the back line. Chelsea are reportedly the leading English club in the race though, making a €40m offer to Juventus.

Rugani made 26 appearances for the Serie A champions in 2017/18, and towards the end of the campaign he really started to nail down a place in the team. Nonetheless, he didn’t make more than five league starts in a row all season.

The 23-year-old will have to decide whether that’s going to change next year, of if he should move on.
